Productiveness

Sun Jul 19, 2009, 1:48 PM
I found a parrot in my yard today.
It was yellow and green with a bright red beak and from its stuttery attempts at flight, I'd say it's a baby. It came and sat on the table besides me and my mother in the gazebo and truly, I felt this moment was the essence of the islands...
I realize now I live in Brooklyn.
(?)
Birds aside, I am going to do something productive-- believe it or not, I HAVE been drawing nonstop for a good two weeks now but I'm working in pencil and I am not so fond of scanning pencil drawings here <.< (FAILURE). BUT I will work, will work will work (chaka laka laka) will work~~!!
:heart: :heart: :heart: :heart:

This post has reminded me of this resolve. (thank you)

AnimeNEXT 2009

So I flew in from LA on Thursday, got in at two and had my little sisters graduation all day Friday (translation:I didn't sleep for two days)
Saturday: what does she decide to do?
ANEXT, no duh!! :glomp:
Yep, I went jetlagged and sleepdeprived to my third anime convention this year!! :boogie: Being that I just arrived in NYC I didn't really have a) much/any money (sigh) and b) much desire to buy anime stuff since my internship (Kadokawa Pictures USA) literally ended me up with more anime/manga/merchandise than I could carry over to this state---and so besides roaming about with the long-missed bffs and my newly high school age sis, I pretty much loitered artist alley.
:orange: :orange: :orange:
As always I was thrilled by the BLOW YOUR MIND AWESOME artwork that I saw there and was so excited to get to meet a lot of awesome artists whose work I already admired/will from this point onward admire (he-he-he)!
I met and got a print from :iconprodigybombay: who is sooo cool and if by some miracle you don't know, has work that is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING (please someone stop her alliteration =__=';) and of course I met up with :iconginame: and :iconsisero: who I :heart: L O V E :heart:!!! SO excited for :iconsisero: 's manga, I cannot even wait!! *___*
:orange: :orange: :orange:
ALSO!
I got a fabulous commission from :iconorenji-kun: who's secret and all-too-deceptive masked form I will continue to be astounded by (....) and met the artist :iconjurithedreamer:--soo nice; her work is GORGEOUS and ima steal my friend's Debitto commission from her, mwahah.
:iconmadmagnus: was this really cool (AMAZING, AMAZING, MAKES ME WONDER WHY I STILL BOTHER ATTEMPTING TO DRAW) artist who I met while sneaking back into artist alley on the sunday, since I lost my pass (no comment) and had to literally smuggle about the con avoiding the guards (oh, good thing I was dressed like a victorian noble--think Cain of Godchild....yes, with a cloak) But anyway~ he totally helped me with his advice and it looks like i'm going back to basics before I can find my way to anything even remotely con-worthy. :';)
:orange: :orange: :cheese:
ANEXT was an absolute blast and I'm waiting on my friend for pictures (a failure with cameras). I will proly put up pictures of the stuff I got. :heart:
Sunday night I collapsed on my bed and slept until one on Monday--this being the first night of real sleep I got in this state. Then I built a desk for myself out of birch ply (that I've been told bears a suspicious resemblance to the desk I had in my dorm) so I can draw/paint/raise hell without disturbing the peace in my den.
And today I finally unpacked the last of my (4) suitcases!!!! (I am such a wreck right now!) YIPEE :heart:
:orange: :kitty: :pie:
YOSH.
It's good to be home

Kadokawa Internship

Tue Apr 14, 2009, 8:37 PM
  • Mood: Eye Candy
  • Listening to: my coworkers speak in another language :/
  • Reading: The Fall of the House of Usher/a million synopsis
  • Watching: TOMIE(S) '__'
  • Playing: l'i-pod
  • Eating: sandwich
  • Drinking: cherry tea latte
Sooo, today began my long awaited internship with Kadokawa Pictures USA~! :boogie:
I honestly had no idea what to expect when I left my dorms this morning dressed a billion plus one times more formal ("business casual") than I do normally (I wear jeans nearly everyday: today, a skirt! (??) !) And hiked to the bus to the office where I would be working for this last quarter--I friggin love that place. I enter and there is this EPIC WALL of anime/manga/Japan paraphernalia-- and my face--> :wow:
Lol, so I meet the whole cast of [gods] employees who pretty much make available to us non-Japanese the (legal) supply of anime and other glorious Japanese films--Yuko Abe and Chiyako-san are pretty much my-um-caretakers (mostly Yuko-san ^^;) and tell me what i'll be doing. I regret to say that at a point in the day I did end up actually making coffee for the staff and then serving it at a conference (ah, internship status <3) lol, but I spent most of the day reading/writing/making grammatically sound-- the synopsis for the future releases (pwahaha, spoilers! SUCH SPOILEEEEERS!!!) That was extremely cool 8P
And I met Ken Iyadomi!!! [link] He is the executive vice president of Bandai who came to meet Takashi Sakuda-san (my very congenial boss...san... :O Iyadomi-san is the person who brought Ghost in the Shell and Macross, and he worked on Akira too (long ago...). But I didn't know who he was since I was at the awkward newbie at the front desk and he walked in and said he had an appointment with Sakuda and I just obediently went about the paging of Sakuda and---(ode to the secretarial)--and once they're in conference, an employee is smirking at the me who is a nerdy/shy secretary and saying, "you want to be an animator right?" (me:nod nod nod) Satoshi-san: *laugh a little* "Iyadomi-san is the VP of Bandai--just background info." (me: GAWK)
And that's been me pretty much all day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And I got to see the screening version of this:
DROP is coming out with subs soon and it looks amusing--I think it wants to be an anime (but then, I feel that way about everything, ne....) Reminds me a lot, A LOT of gokusen....
so if you liked Gokusen, you'll enjoy this ^^...~!!! :P :X :D
Book Release! Kadokawa! Mochi with Ice cream!
Wed Apr 1, 2009, 6:08 AM
  • Mood: Sentimental
  • Drinking: strawberry cream tea latte
Firstly, let me tell you all, my beloved DAers that I IGNORE YOU BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!! :heart: !!!!
Hmm, not convinced I see (pooo).
So I haven't dropped off the planet, only the east coast, which is an awful lot like dropping off the planet since college in and of itself is making it impossible for me to do anything at all but art (hypocritical) but i'm hardly talking about the anime art i usually do--in fact I am doing all sorts of things I don't usually do because of ucla. for example, ceramics! <__<!!!
But! What is new in my life (this is an almost EPICLY overly simplified post but its quite early in the morning in LA)
I. RHINE ANGEL IN STORES!!!
I don't think normal people are so calm about this as I am (for some reason, my roomies think it is strange my own lackadaisical response to having a book published, but~~!)
Rhine Angel
by Latoya Raveneau
"Average… to the point of madness.
Forever, this has been the lifestyle of New York teenager, Lone Ricotierre. The life she had was typical; well, certainly as typical as one can expect from a place this crazy. Lone is a confidant; the patient hearer of other’s problems, and though she finds some fulfillment in her ability to consol, somewhere between the bustle of the city and the mediocrity of high school, Lone feels she has misplaced any real purpose in her own existence. But all that is about to change as a simple act of chance places an ancient book of immense power into her hands.
Its name is the Shirhine. Its bindings lock away secrets not meant for mortal eyes. For countless centuries, these vast dangers have been hidden away, guarded beneath the chrono-apocalyptic seal inscribed upon its cover.
Either way, the average life she used to know, is over.
Brimming with heart-pounding excitement and unforgettable characters, Rhine Angel delves into the core of human nature and further hazes the smear of gray separating right from wrong. Author Latoya Raveneau’s first book puts a whole new perspective on the ageless topics of what it is to hold true power, and what it means to have real strength.
Don’t be frightened… it’s only the whole world at stake. "
Above is the book description from my publishers at Tate Enterprise!!
Here's an article about it (and inadvertantly me) in UCLA's newspaper, the Daily Bruin: [link]
And the online retailers!:
Lol, I can COMPARE Prices of my own story, how fun! XD! Lol, Tower--totally the sweetest deal!
So yes, where this is going:
PLEASE CHECK OUT MY BOOK AND SPREAD THE WORD IF YOU CAN!!!!!! I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT AND THANK YOU!!!!!! :heart: :glomp:
Actually, my newest project of sorts is going to be making a promotional animation for RA--I'm trying to drag some design majors I know into helping me so yeah, we'll see--!!!!!!
:boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:
II. After that one, I feel I've exhausted the exclamatory tense but---!!!! As of this quarter, I will be interning at Kadokawa Pictures USA, the American-branch of the Japan-based Licensing and Distributing company responsible for such lovelies as the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and The Ring (as to this one being a "lovely"---ah, it was a good movie ^^;;;) I am sooooooooooo (oo) excited!!! ^__^!!! Lol, so worth the nervous meltdown that was me on the bus to their office and the excruciation of those shoes! The atmosphere there is really nice and I loved meeting the manager Yuko-san who is awesomeness incarnate! YES, Neko-chan FTWWWW!!!!
III. This quarter in the U of CLA, I am taking New Genres as my art studio. Whatever might that be you may ask? (Or, incidentally not care in the least) Why, good friends, THAT---was PRECISELY MY QUESTION when I enrolled!!
LMFAO, it would seem that New Genres is the collective term for all forms of installation/performance/video/"that-person-must-have-been-tripped-out-on-shrooms" art that doesn't fit into the other neat categories like Photography or Sculpture! Wish me luck!!! *__*!!!
IV. I DISCOVERED MOCHI WITH ICE CREAM INSIDE!!
This pleases me since I hate the too sweet bean jelly ones!! *HAPPINESS*
And now I am officially going to be late for my first class!!! ^__^!!
Good morning, I missed you all, I will POST ART, RA RA RA RA !!!!! (!!!) , and Hugs for ALL!!
